[ it's not him. His mask is what made him infamous. Feared, outside the fog and within it. Here, he doesn't need to be "Jed Olsen"—or even Danny Johnson. Only the Ghost Face. Any invitations to survivors to try and find out what's underneath are more for his own entertainment than anything else.

But Zarina? She's gotten closer than the others. And not wholly by his choice. Even if she doesn't talk about the time she came across him when the Entity was sick with blight, he remembers how she saw him vulnerable then. Weak. As someone to pity, not fear. Before, he might have occasionally let her escape ( even oh so kindly carrying her to and dropping her through the hatch once or twice ) to keep her guessing. To keep things between them interesting. Now—however friendly he appears, he doesn't pass up the chance to make her pay for that unlucky meeting whenever they have a trial together.

And he's still not satisfied. ]

I was. But that opportunity's come and gone, Zarina. You should've said yes.

For some reason I'm not surprised at all.

[ being able to unmask the ghost face after how many games they played — are still playing with each other? that's what zarina believes defines their relationship so far. work colleagues in the field of journalism is one thing, but on a personal level... well, the lake meeting was already a huge risk in her mind. ]

People change their mind on plenty of things, but I suppose your face is just going to have to be a mystery to me for a long time when you say it like that.
