Can't go wrong with coffee and s'mores.

[So coffee it is. And as he's hunting around in his cupboards for nice cups and not, you know, disposable ones that can potentially melt from heat, he regards her with a slight shrug.]

If you want? The coffee's instant, so it's literally just me mixing in hot water and stirring it up.

[Grinning slightly, he gestures to the rather large -- almost industrial-sized -- bag of marshmallows on the counter he'd been eating out of earlier.]

Fluff's over there.

[ there's a slight grin that makes its appearance known as she already walks over towards the countertop and takes a piece of marshmallow herself. ]

Coffee's coffee to me. I've lived on both instant and fresh beans before. [ zarina points towards leon with said mallow. ] So long as it isn't too sweet, I'm good.

[ and then she pops it in her mouth before bringing out the rest of the ingredients. microwave exists, the grahams and chocolate easy to snap with just her hands — it'll be easy to assemble. ]

Plate, please, by the way.

Good, because I don't exactly have a maker or a French press or whatever.

[Leon admits this with a wry grin as he plugs in the electric kettle -- a little something his mother had given him as a housewarming gift when he moved out. At the time, it was the biggest waste of a gift. Now, it's a godsend.

He works quickly and smoothly, with practiced ease, to prepare the cups and the spoons and -- once indicated -- to get Zarina a plate from inside one of the cupboards.]

How about I just put all the little...fixins on the side and you can put in as much sugar or cream as you want? Because otherwise, I'll just screw it up. Royally. Sound good?

[ already leon's words have her chuckling while she begins to create their little movie snacks. warm food, drinks, and a friend to be with during the cold weather would be extremely nice, she thinks. ]

Deal. [ she says, nodding towards his way with already five made on the plate. several more to be done because five isn't enough. ] My favorite coffee flavor depends if I'm either in a rush or in the mood for it, and currently I'm feeling pretty good.

[ it doesn't take long to make ten pieces with how simple it is to assemble. easier using the microwave, too. ]

When was the first time you watched the movie, by the way? I'd like to know how you discovered it.

[With that settled, Leon sets out the little containers for sugar, packets of half and half he'd stocked away in his fridge after taking more than necessary from the local shops, and packets of Sweet N Low and Splenda, just in case. Oh, and with little spoons too. Because he's fancy like that.

And once they're set out for her to take, he gets to stirring up the instant coffee with practiced ease.]

Mmn, the movie came out when I was like fourteen and my uncle took a group of us to go see it. It was way over our heads at the time but it was still funny because of the slapstick stuff. It's funnier now, since I'm older and went through the academy and met military people.

im absolutely watching the sequel btw HAHA

[ by the time the s'mores are finished and ready to serve, zarina takes out the plate and sets it aside for now with the aroma of melted chocolate and marshmallows filling the room. definitely a sign of a good movie night, she thinks.

eating later however. coffee now; she walks over towards leon spotting all that's available, already grabbing a small pack of brown sugar and another of cream. ]

That's really cute, imagining you and your uncle watch the movie. And fun. [ it's been so long since she went out with her mom, now that she thinks about it — something to change once they're both free. ] I don't know much about what goes in through police academy or the military beyond what you've told me before. The movie sounds like a wild ride already.

[ in other words: she's!! so!! ready!! ]

[The smell is instant and Leon finds himself working a little faster to get everything ready; deciding that the sooner he's done here, the sooner they can get to starting on the s'mores. Once the tray's ready and he carries it over to the living room.]

Eh...I was gangly and I had braces. I hardly think cute would apply.

[Unless she was looking at it from an auntie's perspective or something, in which case, probably.

Leon sets the tray down on the coffee table, then swipes up the remote.]

Just a warning: the movie is dumb and silly as hell. You ever see that movie Airplane? Or the Naked Gun movies? It's that type of humor. You've been warned.

[And with that as his only warning, Leon presses 'play' and the DVD loads up.]
